It’s that time of year again when we start planning to participate in the annual Boat Rally for Kids with Cancer in support of SickKids Foundation.
The Boat Rally for Kids with Cancer in support of SickKids Foundation raises money for cancer research, treatment and care. Cancer is the single most common cause of disease-related death in children and adolescents. Each year, there are nearly 1,400 new pediatric cases of cancer diagnosed in Canada. Cancer is no longer a death sentence thanks to advances in research, treatment and education, but an average of 250 children still succumb to this disease annually.
The Boat Rally for Kids with Cancer is helping to reduce the mortality rate of pediatric cancer to zero per cent.
I have personally been committed to this cause for 3 years and it’s close to my heart. The stories of these children and their families are touching and inspiring.
New for 2016, we are featuring children from SickKids Children and Camp Ooch who are ambassadors of the cause. We invite you to read their stories here www.boatrallyforkids.com
“Today three patients out of four who are diagnosed with cancer can be cured, but many of those children pay a terrible price for that cure…and for one in four, we don’t have a cure. We have so much more work to do, and SickKids is leading the field in driving forward that innovation” – Dr. James Whitlock, Division Head, Haematology/Oncology, SickKids
This work cannot be done without events like the Rally which raises funds for these researchers to continue to do ground breaking and lifesaving work. When we come together and choose to fight children’s cancer, we are making a difference in the lives of children currently in the battle for life.
By supporting the Boat Rally for Kids with Cancer you are allowing us the ability to continue on the road towards a cure. We have made huge strides, but there is still very important work to be done.
Join me as we Rally for Kids with Cancer and donate today.
